DIY or Self Build Garden Offices

DIY Self Build Home Offices, Studios and Lodges

If you are a keen DIY'er, know a flat-pack enthusiast or a local joiner builder then a Self Build, DIY Garden office may be right up your street.

Don't be afraid to ask the supplier how much they do charge for installation, experienced fitters will have it up in no time.

Ask what preparations are required such as bases, standing areas, foundations etc. You need to know what access the delivery people need.

Prepare your garden space for lots of panels - double check the 'tools required' list and ensure you have adequate power.

DIY Self Build garden offices, lofges and studios

A DIY garden office or self build (same thing) could be your solution but be mindful that the professionals that may be available for extra cost have done it all before. They know the pitfalls and quirky problems, they'll carry spares and emergency bits.

Your garden office will be your place of work and needs to stand up to all weathers. It needs to be fully insulated, warm in winter, cool in summer and keep the wet weather out.

Double check the security of the garden office in general, not just the doors and windows.

A major consideration is the exterior finish and weather treatment although the timber may have a degree of treatment, the finally built garden office will need overall protection - better safe than sorry.

If the DIY Garden Office Kit doesn't come with a quality brand of shed/decking treatment, don't forget to add the prices onto the overall budget including brushes, rollers, face masks, cleaner etc.
