DIY Self Build Home Offices,
Studios and Lodges
All
timbers will naturally age even over a short period of time.
The exterior finish of the garden office you see on show
or in the brochure is fresh and new. The sun's UV rays and
wet weather will force the colours to change and fade. So,
don't buy on the strength of the colour you now, unless
it is painted or stained, even then they will change too.

Ideal for the organic garden
Cadet is the choice for Garden
Lodges. All timber used on their buildings is sourced
from well managed and sustainable sources, not least the
striking Cedar wall cladding. The rich warm colour and texture
of Cedar blends well with the garden environment and yet
is highly resistant to decay - cedar is one of the world's
most durable timbers. Garden
Lodges Cedar cladding can be left untreated and will
age naturally to a "Silvery Grey" colour over
time - cedar has a richly textured grain with colours ranging
from mellow ambers, reddish cinnamon and rich sienna browns.

There are
more options other than timber, but where timber is concerned,
your choices will be T&G (tongue and groove), weatherboard
and waney edged.
Vinyl cladding
offers a virtually maintenance free finish can look just like
wood if the woodgrain pattern is chosen for your garden office.
There is also
metal clad and glass fibre (GRP), the latter can be moulded into
just about any shape and finish.
You may choose a GRP garden office in a Greek or Roman design

The
roof again offers many choices from a flat GRP roof to a
traditional pan tiled finished, clay, shingles, felt, and
many other options.
If you
are thinking about have a ventalated window on the roof,
consider the impact of heavy rain and the noise, it can
sound like gravel being poured on the roof.
